Nine LA Singers Perform at 41st All-New England Choral Festival

Nine Lawrence Academy students are representing LA at the 41st All-New England Choral Festival at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire.

Aiden Berger ’22, Taijie Chen’19, Celine Kim ’21, Nate Hubbard-Nelson ’22Sophia Anne Lando ’20, Claire Lanzendorf ’20, Emily Leung ’19, Veronica Saldanha ’20, and  Crystal Xia ’21 all made the day-trip north accompanied by Director of Music Jenny Cooper.

This year’s theme is “ALL OF US,” based on the final chorus in Craig Hella Johnson’s “Considering Matthew Shepard” and the choral will perform:

  • “Flight Song” by Kim Andre Arnesen
  • “The Listening” by Cheryl B. Engelhardt
  • “Soweto: June, 1976” by Caldwell and Ivory
  • “All of Us” by Craig Hella Johnson

The students began rehearsing at 9:00 a.m. and will work through the pieces with conductor Dan Perkins and pianist Charlie Blood until the 7:00 p.m. concert begins in the Silver Center (Hanaway Theatre) at Plymouth State University in Plymouth.
