AJ Dillon ’17 Chosen By The NFL’s Green Bay Packers

Dillon, chosen by Green Bay with the 62nd overall pick, joins a legendary franchise

By most accounts, tonight was not supposed to be the night for AJ Dillon ’17. But then, at No. 62, the NFL’s legendary Green Bay Packers chose the running back in the second round of the 2020 National Football League Draft.

Dillon, a former Boston College Eagle, played 35 career games on The Heights, scored 40 touchdowns (38 rushing), gained 4382 yards, and was All-ACC First Team (as a sophomore) and the ACC Rookie of the Year in his first year out of Lawrence Academy.

At LA, Dillon scored 65 touchdowns, was part of three ISL varsity football championships (’14, ’15, ’16), and earned five school records in varsity track and field. AJ Was the 2015 NEPSAC Class B Co-Player of the year and led LA to two NEPSAC bowl victories.

“AJ has had one of the best careers here as an athlete,” said former LA football Head Coach Paul Zukauskas to the Academy Journal in 2017. “Maybe the best football player to come through here regarding what he’s done in four years.”

Lawrence Academy would like to congratulate AJ Dillon and his family on being drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. Whether on the field, in the locker room or in the classroom, AJ was a standout from day one and contributed to multiple league and conference titles during his time at LA.  We wish him nothing but the best of luck in the National Football League. Congrats AJ!
